Weekend Mixtape Special: The NFX Night Mix

This week there's a double-dose of Mixtape! I originally created on Mixwit as a request for a party for something I can't remember. I think it was a house-warming something wedding, something, shower something. I made this with a specific crowd in mind, but have found it's not bad for background music. And it last a while.

So, whether you're having a few people over or you're going to turn it up to 11 and just hang out, here's a mix for you and your hip friends, or cool peeps, or your noisy pets. Re-Build And Re-Post Of The Winter Mixtape

So I've managed to rebuild my Winter Mixtape that I made last year. With the fall of Mixwit, all my mixtapes disappeared and for some reason I didn't keep track of what was on this one, but I managed to remember about 95% of what was on it. So here it is again, just sit there, enjoy the winter weather and music that compliments it well by artists Sneaker Pimps, M. Ward, Iron & Wine, Boards of Canada, Neil Young, Frou Frou, Jose Gonzales, Ben Folds Five, Nada Surf, Interpol and more.

The End Of The Weekend Mixtape???

I received an e-mail today from Mixwit, the company that I make all the Weekend Mixtapes with stating that they will be closing up shop after their short year run.

"We regret to announce that Mixwit will cease to exist at the end of the year. The website and profiles will be turned off around Dec 27th and all embedded widgets will stop playing before the end of December.

We’ve put a year of work into Mixwit so this choice wasn’t taken lightly. We’re very grateful to be have been part of the mixtape revival of ‘08 and are satisfied to be able to to bow out while things are still good.

We’re very sorry that this has to end. We’re going to try to figure out some way to archive the artwork and playlists, if for nothing at least historic value. As for now, everything needs to be shut down by the end of the year just to make sure we’ve got a clean start for 2009."

So. That's that. No more. I'll be looking for another way to keep the Weekend Mixtape going. So if you want to listen to any of the past ones click HERE.

The one tape I'll be most disappointed about losing is the Winter Mixtape. That's got to be my favorite. Click here to enjoy it.

I've really enjoyed making these and helping spread music all around the internetz. We'll see how everything goes next year. But, this year needs to finish up.

Weekend Mixtape!!! 8/29/2008

Well it's Labor Day weekend and I didn't even realize it was upon us, so there won't be a Labor Day Mixtape. BUT if you're going to be celebrating or whatever and you'd like to hear a good "party" mix, you can check out the Memorial Day Mixtape, the July 4th Mixtape, or even the Oldies Mixtape if you have a lowrider.

Post # 3,333: The Oldies Mixtape

So, if you know me, I have this thing about threes. This just so happens to be my three-thousand three hundred thirty-third post and it's about a subject I'm not too keen about: Oldies. For the record...I really don't like oldies. And it's actually for the same reason I can't stand hip-hop. The shit's all the same. BUT, I've compiled all the oldies I absolutely can't stop listening to. There's something unique about every song...something that makes it stand out. Some of these songs I'd actually say, are a little ahead of their time, back in an era where radio was all the same...much like how it is now. So I present to you, the Oldies Mixtape. Enjoy.

The Movie Score Mixtape!!! 6/9/2008

Okay. So I've been doing the mixtape thing for a little while now and have been getting nothing but good responses from it. So! Here's something that's probably going to go over everyone's heads.

A little while back I started thinking about themes I could do for mixtapes and I couldn't get a song out of my head...but it was from a movie. Part of the score. So I started looking all kinds of songs up that I remembered almost note for note. This, is that mixtape. So give it a listen, maybe you'll recognize a few, maybe they're favorites of yours.
